Sasha is a West London based tutor with over ten years of experience in Primary education working in both state and international private schools and tutoring children for the 11+ and SATS (KS1 and KS2). Sasha has trained with the British Mindfulness Institute to complete the Applied use of Mindfulness for Primary years, Mindfulness in Schools Project to teach Dots, PawsB and .Breathe curriculum and The London Mindfulness project to complete MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and now focuses her time and energy on encouraging children to strive to be the best they can be.

Sasha is also a trained Mental Health First Aider.

Sasha’s desire to establish Mindful Mentors was borne from her experiences working as a class teacher where she witnessed firsthand the impact exams and a stressful school environment can have on a child’s ability to learn. Mindful Mentors incorporate mindfulness and meditation learning - key elements for coping with stress - into holistic, tailored 1:1 tutoring/whole class sessions to enable children to perform to the best of their abilities.

She believes children excel when working in environments which foster a sense of wellbeing and happiness. Mindful Mentors tutoring sessions/whole class workshops facilitate a productive working environment, which builds a child’s self-esteem, increases their ability to maintain focus and reduces their anxiety by engaging them in arts and crafts, physical movement and mindful breathing exercises. By utilising proven self-help strategies (i.e. Monkey Mind Meditation), Mindful Mentors teach children to identify when they begin to lose focus, a feeling which often feeds anxiety, and how to move forward positively with a sense of calm which over time improves the child’s ability to remain focused for longer.

Being a fitness enthusiast, Sasha incorporates physical activity (i.e. running along the Thames, attending Barrecore and Pilates sessions) and mindfulness techniques (i.e. the body scan, mindful movement and 15 minute breathing meditation) into her daily routine. Adopting small lifestyle changes which allow you to focus on your physical and mental wellbeing on a daily basis can have tremendous health benefits which she is eager to share with a generation of children growing up in a tech/social media obsessed society.
