Mindful Mentors tailored program objectives cover:
Making connections: Introducing breath work and Neuroscience to teach parts of the brain
Noticing your Mind and body: Having an awareness of the connection between our Mind and brain (BET- Behaviours/ Emotions/ Thoughts)
Taming the Monkey Mind: Noticing when our Mind wanders and how we feel when we are not paying attention
Staying focused: Using our senses to focus our attention and notice how we feel in different situations
Finding a sense of self in everyday activities: Using parts of our brain to help us make calm choices in situations
Finding a sense of calm: Using Mindful movement to steady ourselves in the midst of challenging situations. Introduce the Hand-model meditation to get rid of negative emotions
Exploring compassion for ourselves: Use our senses to help focus our mind to positive thoughts
Reacting or Responding: Gain more knowledge about a part of our brain called the ‘Amygdala’ and how we can choose to react or respond to situations
Recognising thoughts: Be aware of what is a thought and what is a Fact. Learn to sort Fact from Fiction to be calmer
Nurturing Ourselves: learning to build resilience towards challenging situations and use visualise to strengthen inner qualities
Increasing empathy towards others: Encourage kindness through positive affirmations towards nature and then others. Practise PLANS (Pause, Let go, Accept, Notice, Seek Kindness) Meditation
Experience Happiness: Cultivating a lifestyle that uses the parts of the brain to enhance a happy life for ourselves and others
These lesson objectives are taught alongside a Mindfulness Book resource and are offered to schools and also parents, Reception – Year 6 Pupils as group or 121 sessions.
